Get Involved
NARSO is being built with input from the people who understand animal rescue and the many disciplines that support it. As we develop our national standards, educational programs, resources, and certification framework, we welcome individuals and organizations interested in contributing their experience, expertise, and ideas.
Whether you work directly in animal rescue, bring professional expertise from another field, or simply want to help strengthen the rescue community, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteer With NARSO
Interested in helping build NARSO?
As the organization grows, we will need volunteers with a variety of skills and backgrounds to assist with research, resource development, education, communications, administrative projects, and other areas of NARSO’s work.
You do not need to be an animal-welfare professional to contribute. Experience in areas such as nonprofit management, communications, education, technology, project management, fundraising, research, or other professional fields may also be valuable to our work.
If you are interested in volunteering, tell us a little about yourself, your experience, and how you would like to contribute.
Share Your Professional Expertise
Strong standards require input from people who understand both the research and the realities of putting responsible practices into action.
NARSO welcomes subject-matter experts who may be interested in reviewing standards, providing professional guidance, contributing educational content, or serving as a resource during development.
We are especially interested in connecting with professionals in veterinary medicine, shelter medicine, animal behavior and welfare, nonprofit governance, law, accounting and finance, human resources, occupational safety, data privacy and technology, disaster response, and other areas relevant to responsible animal rescue.
Participation does not necessarily require an ongoing commitment. Experts may contribute through focused review or consultation within their particular area of expertise.
Rescue Professionals: Help Shape NARSO
The experience of people doing rescue work every day is essential to building standards and resources that are practical in the real world.
We welcome input from rescue founders and leaders, shelter and rescue staff, foster coordinators, adoption teams, veterinary teams, volunteers, foster caregivers, transport coordinators, and others working throughout companion-animal rescue.
As NARSO develops, there may be opportunities to review proposed resources, provide feedback on standards, participate in pilot programs, test educational materials, and help us understand the challenges rescue organizations encounter in their daily operations.
Organizational Partnerships
NARSO is also interested in building relationships with animal-welfare organizations, veterinary and professional organizations, educational institutions, nonprofit support organizations, technology providers, foundations, and other groups whose work intersects with responsible animal rescue.
If your organization sees an opportunity to collaborate with NARSO, we welcome the conversation.
